Expo 2015 is a Universal Exposition being hosted by Milan, Italia using the theme Feeding the Planet, Energy for life, the global event reached almost 9 million visitors in its first 3 first months and is expected to attract more than 20 million visitors from 01 May 2015 to 31 October 2015 (source: www.italiangoodnews.com).

The European Commission has organised a Food-Tourism Week in the framework of EXPO-Milan.The ever-growing interest in gastronomy provides a unique opportunity for both tourism and food industries. The Food-Tourism Week is meant to bring together, for the first time, the main players in the tourism sector (industry representatives, international organisations, NGOs, opinion leaders, small businesses, and national and regional authorities) to discuss the future of food-tourism.

From 28th to 30th of September, within the framework of the European Commission’s Food-Tourism Week of Expo Milan 2015, the European Region of Gastronomy 2017 Award Ceremony and European Region of Gastronomy 2016 Programmes will be unveiled. Dr. Diane Dodd, IGCAT Executive Director will present the European Region of Gastronomy and prof. Jordi Tresserras of the University of Barcelona will present the awards. READ MORE
