After Cáceres was bestowed the title os Spanish Capital of Gastronomy last year, a position which it has held from 1 January 2015, the time has come to announce a new winner for the forthcoming year. And the judging was tough, but after beating entrants such as Huelva, Toledo has been voted the next province capital to take the litle for 2016. The jury decided to award Toledo as the Spanish Capital of Gastronomy 2016 due to its “creative combination of cultural and gastronomical heritage, which will attract visitors to the area next year in order to commemorate the 30th anniversary since UNESCO declared it as a World Heritage Site and the 400th anniversary since the death of Miguel de Cervantes who resided in Toledo for a great part of his life.”
