When Tourism and Sports Team Up for Development and Peace

The Rio Olympics will be held from September 5th to 21st 2016 and will be the first ever Olympic Games in South America. According to the International Olympic Committee, tourist arrivals are expected to be around 480,000 for both the Olympic and Paralympic Games. Sport is a powerful tool because teams strengthen social ties and networks, being able to make friendships and feel a sense of belonging and unity to a group.
