Eventfulness and the link between urban and rural EUROCITIES

IGCAT and the European Region of Gastronomy participated in the EUROCITIES Culture Forum conference ‘Art & Imagination: Eventfulness: sharing the heritage of Jheronimus Bosch’. Executive Director of IGCAT Diane Dodd formed part of the panel of speakers which included Karel Bartak, Head of the Creative Europe unit at the European Commission and Anton Rombouts, Mayor of s’Hertogenbosch. The conference took place at the Town Hall, s’Hertogenbosch on 17 March 2016 within the context of the commemoration of the 500th anniversary of its’ famous painters death. The Eurocities network set the conference to explore the frontiers of how events can become powerful strategic vehicles to stimulate economic, social and cultural regeneration. Diane Dodd insisted that safeguarding cultural and food diversity is essential for cities to safeguard the ‘unique selling point’ of their local festivals, markets and fairs.
