Although Moscow has come a long way since the 1990s, getting around Russia’s capital can still be a frustrating experience for many foreign tourists, who can find the Cyrillic signs, street plan and sheer size of the city disorientating. However, city authorities have now unveiled a special project designed to make life easier for visitors from abroad. Launched on July 1, the initiative consists of student volunteers helping non-Russian-speaking tourists to find their way, pointing out bars, restaurants, museums and other useful services. A small group of students is deployed on one of the streets that is most popular with tourists, in the Arbat neighborhood. Another team is at work nearby in the Alexandrovsky Garden.
