Aleppo, once one of the most renowned cities in Syria, has long been noted for its exquisite food. Its cuisine has been awarded a Grand Prix of Gastronomic Culture from the International Academy for Gastronomy, writes Lebanon-based chef Marlene Matar in The Aleppo Cookbook: Celebrating the Legendary Cuisine of Syria, “the only city besides Paris to receive such a distinction.”
“Since 2015, the end of March, we welcomed our first [refugees from Syria],” said Corine Dehabey, director of the Toledo office of US Together.
